legs eleven

outrageously good legs

in front of me in the check-out

queue at Bunnings

the embodiment of every cliché you ever heard

about legs

tanned, strong, carelessly perfect

I was captivated

I thought about the beach, about running

in sand

the pressure of the accelerator pedal beneath my right foot

about stairs and trampolines

and

really

it must be heaven

This is a quick response to a one-word suggestion (‘poetry’ – which had me stumped for a bit, I can’t remember the last time I wrote a poem) from a mystery person (thanks!) on my new formspring page. There’s a form in the sidebar on the right if you’d like to play.

  1. Love this - especially that you saw her at Bunnings, such a great little detail! I also like the phrase 'carelessly perfect' - it paints such a vivid picture for me.

  5. Hello everyone, thank you all for your sweet words!

This was my first post from a formspring prompt, feel free to make more suggestions :)

Emma, I love hardware shops, do you? They are so bursting with possibility.

  6. That's really lovely.

I was thinking of you the other day - I dance with a woman who has M.E. She is gradually getting better, if she paces herself. 2 years ago she was in a wheelchair, now she can dance. I think that is wonderfully hopeful.

  7. Foodycat, what brilliant news about the woman you dance with. How lovely. She must be thrilled!

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I try my best but I'm not always able to reply. In that instance, advance apologies, and an explanatory spiel here.
